Clinic and treatment of meningococcal infection
Abstract
From January 1971 to April 1974, 1,682 patients with generalized forms of meningococcal infection were hospitalized at the 1st Infectious Diseases Hospital. This surge in the incidence of meningococcal disease was clinically very different from the sporadic cases we have seen in the past 30 years.
Complications and immediate consequences of meningococcal infection in convalescents
Abstract
In this work, we present the results of the analysis of case histories and dispensary examination of 807 convalescents of meningococcal infection of all ages, who appeared for examination 1-3 months after discharge from the 1st infectious diseases hospital. During the dispensary examination, the convalescents collected detailed information about complaints and general well-being, checked the state of the cardiovascular and nervous systems, hearing, vision, work activity, and student performance.
Fibrinolytic activity of blood in meningococcal infection
Abstract
To clarify the dependence of the clinical course of meningococcal infection on the severity of the fibrinolytic activity of the blood, we conducted a dynamic study (according to the Bidwell method) in 58 patients. 2 patients were under the age of 3 years, 11 were from 3 to 7 years old, 5 were from 7 to 10 years old, 13 were from 10 to 14 years old, and 27 were over 14 years old.
Dynamics of under-oxidized metabolic products in patients with meningococcal infection
Abstract
We have studied the dynamics of blood and urine oxygen vacancy rates in patients with a generalized form of meningococcal infection: on the 1-3rd, 7-9th days of illness and before discharge from the hospital. Examined 102 patients (67 adults and 35 children). The research results are presented in the table.
The use of droperidol in patients with meningococcal infection
Abstract
Generalized forms of meningococcal infection, occurring with the phenomena of meningitis, are often accompanied by severe cerebral edema syndrome. One of the clinical symptoms of this complication is the patient's motor restlessness, which complicates the rapid conduct of intensive therapy.
Clinical picture and pathomorphological changes in meningococcal meningoencephalitis
Abstract
In 71 out of 1532 patients with meningococcal infection who were admitted to the 1st Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital of Kazan during the epidemic outbreak of 1971 - 1972, the disease proceeded in the form of meningoencephalitis. 10 patients died (14.1%): 7 children aged 1.5 months. up to 14 years old and 3 adults - 15, 19 and 46 years old (males and females equally).
Immediate causes of death in meningococcal infection
Abstract
We have analyzed 90 sectional observations of meningococcal infection. 79 patients died due to the clinical and morphological picture of meningococcal sepsis, 11 - due to meningococcal meningitis without manifestations of sepsis. Children were mostly affected.
Typical landscape of the causative agent of typhoid fever in the TASSR
Abstract
The epidemiology of typhoid fever in TASSR is currently characterized by the predominance of sporadic cases of the disease. Over the past 9 years in the TASSR, sporadic morbidity in some years accounts for 75 to 85%. Knowledge of phage typing deepens information about the epidemiology of typhoid fever and allows you to confirm or exclude the source of infection, trace epidemiological connections, distinguish local cases from imported and sporadic cases of diseases from epidermal ones, and also clarify the factors of transmission of typhoid infection.
Recognition of erased forms of hemorrhagic fever
Abstract
Features of the clinic of erased forms of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) are insufficiently covered in the literature. There are indications (S. L. Glazunov, E. V. Leshchinskaya, A. M. Dubnyakova, 1957) on the absence or mild severity of hemorrhagic syndrome, moderate albuminuria while maintaining the specific features of the disease.
Acid-base state and electrolyte balance in patients with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome
Abstract
We studied the acid-base state (ACS) and the electrolyte composition of blood in patients with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) in the dynamics of the disease. The content of sodium and potassium in plasma and erythrocytes was determined by flame photometry, the acid-base state was determined using the AZIV-1 apparatus.
Some clinical and biochemical parallels in modern scarlet fever
Abstract
The aim of the work was to study the nature of redox processes in the modern course of scarlet fever. We determined the undeoxidized metabolic products by the amount of oxygen vacate. At the same time, the oxygen vacate (ѵO2) of blood (according to the method of V. Roman), urine (according to the micromethod of B.M.Brin) was investigated, and the clearance of under-oxidized products (according to O2) was calculated. Glomerular filtration and tubular reabsorption by endogenous creatinine were studied in all patients.
The state of the cardiovascular system in patients with thyrotoxicosis before and after treatment
Abstract
Using a number of instrumental research methods: electro-, vector-, phono-, polycardiography, as well as measuring the blood flow velocity by the magnesia method, venous pressure according to V.A.Valdman (1967), capillaroscopy of the nail transitional folds of the fingers was studied in dynamics for up to 2 , 5 years the state of the cardiovascular system in 125 patients with thyrotoxicosis (113 women and 12 men aged 16 to 66 years). 37 of them had I degree of the disease, 61 - II degree. and in the 27th-III century. 95 patients were treated by surgery, 30 - conservatively. The control group consisted of 33 healthy people.
Dynamics of amino acid content in urine in patients with congenital heart defects during surgical treatment
Abstract
We studied the amino acid composition of urine in children with various heart defects during surgical treatment. The amino acids were studied by the chromatographic method modified by TS Paskhina; the results were processed statistically by "moments" [1].
Diagnostic value of digital densography
Abstract
There are several methods for recording peripheral arterial volumetric pulse curves. We chose the contactless one as the most artifact-free. A volumetric pulse curve, hereinafter referred to as a finger densogram, was obtained using a photosensor.
Clinical Significance of Immediate Autoimmune Reactions
Abstract
The objectives of this work were to identify in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and rheumatism (R) metabolic and functional characteristics of cells producing autoantibodies (APC) and rheumatoid factor (RF cells), and the possibility of using the obtained patterns for the recognition and differential diagnosis of the diseases under study, as well as in a comprehensive study of humoral and cellular factors of autoimmune reactions of an immediate type in RA and R.
Some enzyme systems of liver tissue and blood serum in Itsenko-Cushing's disease
Abstract
We studied the activity of some enzymes in the liver tissue and in the blood serum in Itsenko-Cushing's disease. The study involved 11 women aged 22–49 years with a pronounced picture of the disease: obesity with a characteristic redistribution under the skin and fatty tissue, hypertension, impaired carbohydrate metabolism. In 4 patients, the lower edge of the liver was located 1.5-4 cm below the edge of the costal arch, 2 of them complained of discomfort after eating.
The functional state of the thyroid gland in patients with chloasma
Abstract
Facial chloasma is a common and cosmetically painful pigmentation disorder. We are not aware of publications on the role of the thyroid gland in the pathogenesis of this dermatosis; meanwhile, individual clinical observations suggest the participation of thyroid hormones in the mechanism of the onset of chloasmal skin pathology.
To the pathogenesis of post-injection edema of the subcutaneous tissue
Abstract
Studying postinjection lipodystrophy as a complication of insulin treatment of diabetes mellitus (V.V. Talantov, 1973, 1974), we drew attention to the appearance in some patients of postinjection compaction of subcutaneous adipose tissue up to 10-20 mm in diameter, rarely larger. Usually it is painless, occurs immediately or after minutes and hours after injection and lasts from several hours to a day, and sometimes more than a day. The skin over this seal, as a rule, is not changed.
Сidifos в комплексном лечении рака мочевого пузыря
Abstract
As our observations show, after resection of the bladder, relapses occur in 62.5% of patients in the first 1-2 years (E. N. Sitdykov, 1969). Cystectomy gives more encouraging results. In recent years, the combination of an operative method of treatment with chemotherapy has gained increasing recognition.
Otogenic paresis of the facial nerve
Abstract
From 1951 to 1970, 75 patients (37 men and 38 women) with otogenic paresis of the facial nerve were treated in our clinic. 22 of them had acute purulent otitis media (including 3 - of traumatic etiology) and 53 - chronic. The age composition of patients: up to one year - 1, from one to 10 years - 10, from 10 to 20 years - 10, from 20 to 30 years - 27, from 30 to 40 years - 15, over 40 years - 13. In all patients paresis was unilateral (on the right - in 40, on the left - in 35).
Reasons for a barren marriage
Abstract
Infertility in the family is caused by a number of pathological changes in either one or both spouses. However, in the past, women were considered the main culprit in such marriages. In recent years, many works have appeared in which the authors indicate that a sterile marriage can be equally dependent on the man. In 50% of men in such marriages, morphological inferiority of sperm is observed (K.B. Akunts, 1970).
Regional blood circulation in surgical and conservative treatment of transcondylar fractures of the shoulder in children
Abstract
The question of the state of local regional blood circulation in fractures of the upper extremities in children has not been covered in the literature. We observed 205 children with transcondylar fractures of the shoulder. Rheovasographic study was carried out in 48 children (age - from 2.5 to 14 years). 38 of them received conservative treatment, 10 were operated on.
Influence of late toxicosis of pregnancy on mineral metabolism of fetal bone tissue
Abstract
According to the generally accepted opinion, rickets is found in children from 2-3 months of age. However, even at the beginning of this century, P.V. Kuskov (1912), and then A. B. Marfan (1927) indicated that it can be observed from the day of the birth of a child. SO Dulitsky (1948), 3. G. Koroleva (1958) believe that the signs of rickets are detected from the first weeks of the neonatal period. During intrauterine development through the maternal organism, the fetus experiences unfavorable influences from the external environment, which can lead to a violation of the ratio of mineral substances in its organs and systems.
Atherosclerosis: on controversial issues in the diagnosis of coronary heart disease
Abstract
The introduction into practice in the USSR since 1970 of a new classification of diseases, which is an abbreviated version of the 8th revision of the international classification, along with the unification of some provisions, gave rise to a number of controversial issues. Especially many questions have arisen regarding coronary heart disease (CHD).
Clinical features of atherosclerosis of the vessels of the abdominal organs
Abstract
In the discussion published on the pages of the Kazan Medical Journal, various aspects of atherosclerosis are considered, but none of its participants considered it necessary to address the problems associated with atherosclerosis of the vessels of the abdominal cavity. Meanwhile, this is a formidable disease, often leading the patient to the brink of disaster and causing his death.
Peridural analgesia during labor
Abstract
Among the promising and progressive methods of labor pain relief, which are successfully used at present, include: electroanalgesia; anesthesia with the help of narcotic substances similar in structure to the body's natural metabolites (sodium oxybutyrate, viadril); autoanalgesia with subnarcotic concentrations of inhalation anesthetics with a wide range of analgesic effects (nitrous oxide, pentran, trilene); pain relief with drugs used for neuroleptanalgesia; epidural analgesia.
Modern hemogram in the diagnosis of diseases
Abstract
Hemogram - an initial set of studies of the main quantitative and qualitative features of blood corpuscles (erythrocytes, leukocytes, platelets) - has become widespread in diagnosis, prognosis of the outcome of the disease, examination, professional selection, treatment control and medical examination.
Scientific basis for the standardization of drinking water quality
Abstract
The adoption in 1974 of the new GOST 2874-73 "Drinking water" marks the further development of preventive health care in the prevention of waterborne infectious and non-infectious diseases. The standards are guided without fail in the design and implementation of sanitary and sanitary measures in the field of water supply.
Pathomorphological features of the influenza epidemic in January - February 1973
Abstract
The last pandemic outbreak of influenza (the so-called "London" influenza) was characterized by mass morbidity and certain clinical and pathomorphological features. To study the latter, we used the results of postmortem autopsies performed by us (15), as well as data from the autopsy protocols (40), case histories and pathological studies.
Leptospirosis in people cleaning populated areas
Abstract
In terms of studying the epidemiology of leptospirosis in a large city, workers of a special auto service for cleaning the city (101 people) and workers of the Vodokanal trust (65) were examined. Transport work is provided by chauffeurs, loaders, sewers. In addition, the farm has repair shops, which employ locksmiths, welders, carburetors, etc. In the Vodokanal trust, plumbing and sewerage networks, as well as pumping stations, are serviced by locksmiths, mechanics and linemen.
About the carrier of bacteria in dysentery
Abstract
Clinical observations, sigmoidoscopy and scatological examination were carried out in 93 children admitted to the hospital with a diagnosis of healthy carriage, and the obtained materials were compared with the results of examining patients with typical dysentery with varying severity and duration of the course, hospitalized in the same period of time.
Neurohumoral factors and immunogenesis
Abstract
We have studied the dynamics of serotonin, histamine and adrenaline-like substances (APV) levels in the blood during immunization with modern preventive drugs: BCG, DPT and smallpox vaccine under the conditions of a separate and complex vaccination method (DPT + BCG and DPT + smallpox vaccine). We carried out experiments on 87 rabbits. Animals were immunized subcutaneously, subcutaneously and intradermally, depending on the antigen used. Immunization was carried out in doses and regimens prescribed for children.
On the state of carbohydrate metabolism in patients with atherosclerosis
Abstract
The aim of the work was to study carbohydrate metabolism in patients with atherosclerosis. A total of 155 patients (men - 93, women - 62, age - from 42 to 75 years) with atherosclerosis of the aorta, coronary arteries and atherosclerotic myocardiosclerosis were examined. Atherosclerosis of the cerebral vessels was detected in one third of the patients. All patients were diagnosed with chronic coronary insufficiency, 32 suffered myocardial infarction (they were examined in the postinfarction period).
Hemodynamic parameters in bronchial and cardiac asthma
Abstract
We determined hemodynamic parameters - stroke volume of the heart (SV), cardiac output (MV), mean pressure (MV) according to Starr's formula, left ventricular work (LVP), mean dynamic pressure (SDP), peripheral vascular resistance (PSS) in 111 patients with bronchial asthma (in 45 of them it was uncomplicated and in 66 it was combined with pulmonary heart failure) and in 100 patients with cardiac asthma (developed on the basis of rheumatic heart diseases - in 40, hypertension - in 32, atherosclerotic cardiosclerosis - in 28).
Some indicators of the third phase of blood coagulation in patients with rheumatism
Abstract
Taking into account the difference in literature data on the nature of blood coagulation in patients with rheumatism, we studied the indicators of the third phase of blood coagulation (fibrinase, fibrinogen, cryofibrinogen - fibrinogen B and the degree of thrombotest) in 110 donors (men - 62, women - 48, age - from 19 to 48 years) and in 103 patients with rheumatism with I and II degree of activity of the process (men - 38, women - 65, age: up to 20 years - 18 people, from 21 to 30 years - 22, from 31 to 40 years - 42, from 41 to 50 years old — 14, from 51 to 60 years old — 6 and older — 1). I degree circulatory disorders were found in 10 patients, grade II — in 47, grade III — in 10.
On the issue of organizing an intensive care service
Abstract
In November 1972, the medical unit of Almetyevneft organized a general resuscitation and anesthesiology department for 6 beds (the total number of somatic beds is 380), which was intended to treat patients with terminal conditions caused by a variety of reasons: severe shock, blood loss, injury brain, chest trauma, poisoning, acute respiratory and heart failure of various etiologies. In addition, patients were admitted to the department after severe and traumatic operations on the organs of the thoracic and abdominal cavity, performed under general anesthesia.
Steven-Johnson syndrome caused by taking rauvazan
Abstract
The syndrome described by Stevens and Johnson in 1922 is a rare disease. For its clinical picture, a feverish state, lesions of the skin and mucous membranes are most characteristic. Abundant bullous eruptions appear on the skin of the face, trunk, upper and lower extremities.
Comparative characteristics of the incidence of women
Abstract
The information obtained on the basis of data on the number of people applying to medical institutions for 1 year is completely insufficient for judging about chronic morbidity. In this regard, domestic researchers of the incidence of morbidity use the data of a longer period - long-term observation of the appealability - when studying it. It is believed that the three-year appealability fully satisfies the requirements for the completeness of accounting for morbidity.
On the influence of oil wells on the sanitary state of the lower Kama
Abstract
Taking into account the great national economic importance of the Lower Kama, since 1956 we have been systematically monitoring the sanitary state of this large reservoir. Analysis of long-term data makes it possible to characterize the reservoir as practically clean, but with reduced organoleptic characteristics in the winter season.

Abstract
The publication of the article gives rise to a feeling of satisfaction, since practitioners are not sufficiently familiar with the clinic and diagnosis of Sheehan's syndrome. Such patients often unsuccessfully turn to various specialists, without receiving the necessary treatment for a long time.
About clinical thinking
Abstract
The book under review contains 15 chapters. In the introduction, the authors emphasize that each doctor should have a certain set of the most important methodological and socio-psychological principles governing his activities, attitude towards his work, towards a sick and healthy person, towards science, culture, towards nature and society, his understanding of his duty , responsibility for the future, his thoughts about life and death. According to the authors, “some doctors sometimes forget that each patient is a person, not a faceless creature” (p. 8). For the clinician, such forgetfulness is far from harmless, for “to cure is to control, to a certain extent, the patient’s personality” (p. 9).
