This work is intended to highlight the experience of our clinic in the study of the pathogenesis and treatment of one of the complications that develop in the coming days after major operations, mainly on the abdominal organs, less often on the chest cavity and even less often on the limbs, as well as in the postpartum period.

The study of magnesium metabolism in rickets, as a factor taking an active part in complex metabolic processes, is of great interest. Magnesium influences intracellular catalysis, participates in the action of a number of enzyme systems as a cofactor. Its influence on glycolysis processes is especially intense. Magnesium also takes part in various stages of the Krebs citrate cycle.

The observation described below is of interest in view of the multisymptomatic clinical picture of periarteritis nodosa and the 2-month remission achieved during treatment.

The combined lesion of the heart valves by the rheumatic process and the development of defects on this basis, including stenosis, occurs much more often than previously assumed.
