Carbohydrate function of the liver in patients with congenital heart disease

Zernov N.G.

Abstract

The successful development of heart surgery is unthinkable without knowledge of the pathology of vital organs and the dangers associated with the effects of surgical trauma and anesthesia. Since the role of metabolic features in the occurrence of operational and postoperative complications is great, surgeons attach great importance to the study of the functional state of the liver.

Functional state of the cardiovascular system in patients with bronchial asthma before and after nonspecific desensitizing therapy

Lazidi G.X.

Abstract

As you know, asthma attacks in bronchial asthma themselves do not pose a great danger to patients. Death from suffocation at the height of an attack of bronchial asthma is a very rare occurrence. Patients often die from pulmonary heart failure. In view of this, the identification of violations of external respiration and blood circulation is important in solving issues of therapy, employment and prognosis.

On the frequency of perforated gastric and duodenal ulcers

Epifanov I.S.

Abstract

Despite the fact that the literature on perforated gastroduodenal ulcers is quite extensive, some general issues of their occurrence, localization, dependence of frequency on age, sex, season, etc. are insufficiently illuminated, and sometimes controversial. In view of this, the present work was undertaken, based on the study of 1522 observations of patients with perforated stomach and duodenal ulcers who were treated in hospitals in the Kirov region during 1947-1956.

Symptom complex of "acute abdomen" with abdominal purpura (Schönlein - genoch disease) and the tactics of the surgeon

Volkov G.I.

Abstract

Difficulties in diagnosing Schönlein-Genoch disease arise, firstly, due to the frequent absence of ectopic symptoms (according to Seneca and Gosse): in 30%, the rash on the body is delayed or does not occur at all; secondly, the symptom complex of "acute abdomen", which is very often observed in this disease, is very similar to appendicitis, intussusception or other types of intestinal obstruction. Considering that this disease mainly occurs in children, with whom it is sometimes extremely difficult to establish contact, a number of errors in the treatment of this disease (and unjustified surgical interventions) becomes understandable.

Abstract

Fractures of the shin bones occupy one of the first places in frequency among bone fractures. In connection with some difficulties of conservative treatment of such fractures, in recent years they have increasingly begun to resort to their surgical treatment (VM Grishin, NS Smirnov, PN Petrov). The operation of intraosseous fixation of fragments with a metal rod is widely covered in the literature, however, little is reported about the use of other simpler fixation methods.

Inflammatory tumors of the omentum are possible as a result of an acute or chronic infection (typhoid fever, tuberculosis, syphilis) or at the site of foreign bodies that perforate the intestines like a pressure sore. According to Yu. E. Berezov, by 1946 only 58 cases of the formation of such tumors were described in the world literature. In subsequent years, in the domestic literature, we found 4 more messages (A.I. Novikov, V.K.Efimov, T.N. Mordvinkina). In all cases cited in the literature, the diagnosis was not established before the operation.

Surgical treatment of severe forms of ulcerative proctitis

Shelyganova T.A.

Abstract

At the end of the last century, a number of proposals appeared to treat proctitis that did not respond to conservative treatment by surgery - by imposing an intestinal fistula on the S-shaped intestine or on the appendix, followed by washing with solutions of tannin and potassium permanganate. However, this technique did not always give successful results, and it was gradually forgotten. Recently, some domestic surgeons began to use it again, using phytoncides for washing the colon. So, A.I. Tolchenov (Arzamas) reported 6 observations of the application of this method with good results.

Abstract

Congenital malformations of the rectum and anus are relatively rare (1: 5,000-10,000 newborns). Distinguish between complete atresia and atresia with a fistula. The development of a newborn in such cases is possible if surgery is performed on the first day or if atresia is combined with an abnormality of the intestinal orifice, which ensures sufficient bowel emptying. Only isolated cases of description of such anomalies in adults are known (N. Ts. Tikhov, A. G. Brzhozovsky). In this regard, we present our observation.

Endemic goiter in the western part of the Shugurovsky district of the TASSR

Kuramshina-Bichurina I.S.

Abstract

The first observations of endemic goiter in the Shugurovsky district date back to 1935. Polyantsev and Polyantseva conducted a survey of the population of the villages of the Shugurovsky district located along the Sheshma River (Sugushly, Karkali, Shugur, Skhodnevo, 68 Urdala, Spiridonovka, N. Ishtiryak, St. Ishtiryak and Bakirovo) and established a focus of endemic goiter. The incidence of the inhabitants was on average 29.9%. Later, G.M. Usmanova examined the population of several villages in the Shugurovsky district, mainly those that were examined in 1935, and found an enlargement of the thyroid gland in 87.2%, and goiter 3-4-5 degrees in 14.8 %.

Endemic goiter in the Volzhsk region

Khakimova A.M.

Abstract

The Mari ASSR has long been considered the focus of endemic goiter. The first information about goiter on the territory of the Mari Territory dates back to 1870 and 1886. (N.A. Tolmachev and M.F.Kandaratsky). In the Soviet period, for the first time in 1929, a scientific expedition was organized by the People's Commissariat for Health of the RSFSR to identify the causes, nature and size of goiter endemic. The survey results confirmed the available data. The Mari Scientific Research Goiter Station was created, which united all the work to combat goiter in the republic. In the future, iodine prophylaxis began to be carried out by supplying the population with table salt and at the same time "school" iodine prophylaxis, which affected the health of the population. New materials on thymus endemic in the MASSR, presented by prof. FG Mukha-Medyarov ten years after the 1929 expedition showed a significant decrease in the incidence rate (up to 10.6%, instead of 21.2% in 1929). During the Patriotic War and post-war years, mass surveys of the population were not carried out. For the Volzhsky District, during this time, there were only data from a sample survey of the population, carried out at the initiative of local medical workers. According to these data, an increase in the incidence rate (up to 45% of those examined) was again observed in the Volzhsky region. In 1956, the population of the Zvenigovsky region was examined by doctors D.V. Shvets and S.P. 1% (materials of the republican SES).

Characteristics of the sources of infection with syphilis in the TASSR in 1944-1958.

Sharlykova T.S.

Abstract

One of the elements of the dispensary methodology in the fight against sexually transmitted diseases, and, in particular, with syphilis, is the identification and involvement of persons who have served as a source of infection in compulsory treatment. As you know, contingents of sources of infection cannot be regarded as something constant, unchanged in their composition at different periods of time. Depending on changes in socio-economic conditions, the composition of sources of infection inevitably changes to some extent. Knowledge of these changes is of great epidemiological importance, since they determine the direction and nature of organizational and preventive measures.

Abstract

Opening the conference, prof. NV Lazarev (Leningrad) noted the relevance of the search for drugs that can increase the body's immunity to infection and enhance the body's resistance during treatment. He dwelt in detail on those changes in the body, which are united by him in the general concept of "a state of increased non-specific resistance." This condition is caused by drugs such as dibazol, vitamin B12, ginseng root, eleutherococcus. They were named by him as adaptogens. He characterized the differences between the state of increased body resistance and the state of "stress" according to Selye.
