On the contractile and tonic function of the heart in those exposed to the action of ionizing radiation
Abstract
In most works devoted to the study of the reactions of the cardiovascular system to the effects of ionizing radiation, changes in blood pressure are noted, and only sometimes the authors touch on changes in the function of the heart muscle (Yu.I. Arkusky, I.B. Gurevich, V.A. , Gempelman).

Carbohydrate function of the liver in patients with congenital heart disease
Abstract
The successful development of heart surgery is unthinkable without knowledge of the pathology of vital organs and the dangers associated with the effects of surgical trauma and anesthesia. Since the role of metabolic features in the occurrence of operational and postoperative complications is great, surgeons attach great importance to the study of the functional state of the liver.

Functional state of the cardiovascular system in patients with bronchial asthma before and after nonspecific desensitizing therapy
Abstract
As you know, asthma attacks in bronchial asthma themselves do not pose a great danger to patients. Death from suffocation at the height of an attack of bronchial asthma is a very rare occurrence. Patients often die from pulmonary heart failure. In view of this, the identification of violations of external respiration and blood circulation is important in solving issues of therapy, employment and prognosis.

Diagnostic and prognostic value of thymol test in epidemic hepatitis
Abstract
To judge the degree of impairment of various functions of the liver, as well as the differential diagnosis of parenchymal, obstructive and hemolytic jaundices, functional tests have become of great importance. One of them - a test of thymol opacity - was used as a test to judge about the violation of the protein function of the liver in epidemic hepatitis.

Cholinergic properties of saliva and blood in acute experimental gastric ulcer and chronic peptic ulcer disease in humans
Abstract
In the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer disease, like a number of other diseases, chemical mediators of nervous activity, in particular acetylcholine, play an important role. There are indications in the literature that in patients with chronic gastric ulcer, changes in the content of acetylcholine and blood cholinesterase activity are observed.

On the frequency of perforated gastric and duodenal ulcers
Abstract
Despite the fact that the literature on perforated gastroduodenal ulcers is quite extensive, some general issues of their occurrence, localization, dependence of frequency on age, sex, season, etc. are insufficiently illuminated, and sometimes controversial. In view of this, the present work was undertaken, based on the study of 1522 observations of patients with perforated stomach and duodenal ulcers who were treated in hospitals in the Kirov region during 1947-1956.

Symptom complex of "acute abdomen" with abdominal purpura (Schönlein - genoch disease) and the tactics of the surgeon
Abstract
Difficulties in diagnosing Schönlein-Genoch disease arise, firstly, due to the frequent absence of ectopic symptoms (according to Seneca and Gosse): in 30%, the rash on the body is delayed or does not occur at all; secondly, the symptom complex of "acute abdomen", which is very often observed in this disease, is very similar to appendicitis, intussusception or other types of intestinal obstruction. Considering that this disease mainly occurs in children, with whom it is sometimes extremely difficult to establish contact, a number of errors in the treatment of this disease (and unjustified surgical interventions) becomes understandable.

Treatment of urinary tract injury in pelvic fractures
Abstract
The frequency of pelvic fractures complicated by damage to the pelvic organs ranges from 6.8% (E.S. Karpenko) to 33% (K. D. Aglintsev) and others) and, more rarely, damage to the bladder. This group of victims gives the highest mortality among other patients with pelvic fractures, fluctuating on average from 37.5 to 73% (E. S. Kavpenko, I. I. Sklyarov).

To the treatment of lateral fractures of the femoral neck
Abstract
The operation of osteosynthesis with the help of various kinds of metal structures - blade nails, screws, screws, etc. - has established itself in recent years as the main method of treating fresh displaced medial fractures of the femoral neck. As for patients with lateral (pertrochanteric and intertrochanteric) fractures of the femoral neck, there is still no unanimity in the choice of the method of their treatment.

Experience in Surgical Treatment of Diaphyseal Fractures of the Shin Bones
Abstract
Fractures of the shin bones occupy one of the first places in frequency among bone fractures. In connection with some difficulties of conservative treatment of such fractures, in recent years they have increasingly begun to resort to their surgical treatment (VM Grishin, NS Smirnov, PN Petrov). The operation of intraosseous fixation of fragments with a metal rod is widely covered in the literature, however, little is reported about the use of other simpler fixation methods.

On the clinical value of the iodine reaction for the diagnosis of early pregnancy
Abstract
In recent years, the attention of obstetricians has been attracted by the Simol reaction, proposed for the diagnosis of early pregnancy. Its value lies in its ease of implementation. If the spermaturia reaction (the simplest of biological reactions) requires the presence of a frog and is readable after 3 hours, then the Simol reaction does not require animals and can be delivered within a few minutes.

Subcutaneous emphysema in obstetric practice
Abstract
Subcutaneous emphysema is one of the rare complications of childbirth (A. 3. Mazo, 1934; M. V. Lebedev, 1936; S. N. Kheifets, 1957, etc.). The statistical material of Chener (1911) embraces 55, Papovitsin and Tanaseco (1930) —77, Rosemark (1932) —80 observations. We found a description of 112 more cases in domestic and foreign publications.

Changes in serum proteins in inflammatory diseases of women genital area
Abstract
The aim of this work is to study the nature of shifts in blood serum proteins in those suffering from acute and chronic inflammatory processes of the female genital area, and also to find out how mud treatment affects the protein fractions of the blood.

On rational antibiotic therapy of inflammatory diseases of the female genital area
Abstract
In recent literature, there are more and more reports that the role of streptococcus as the main etiological factor of puerperal infection since the time of Pasteur has been significantly reduced and the role of staphylococcus is increasing (A. M. Dolgopolskats, T. K. Orlov).

Congenital fibroelastosis of the heart
Abstract
Congenital fibroelastosis of the heart is a disease also known under the names: diffuse endocardial fibrosis, endomyocardial fibrosis, endocardial sclerosis, endocardial fibroelastosis, idiopathic cardiac hypertrophy. As an independent nosological unit, this disease was isolated relatively recently (M. Sano and N. Andersen, 1942).

Inflammatory swelling of the omentum at the site of a foreign body that perforated the intestine
Abstract
Inflammatory tumors of the omentum are possible as a result of an acute or chronic infection (typhoid fever, tuberculosis, syphilis) or at the site of foreign bodies that perforate the intestines like a pressure sore. According to Yu. E. Berezov, by 1946 only 58 cases of the formation of such tumors were described in the world literature. In subsequent years, in the domestic literature, we found 4 more messages (A.I. Novikov, V.K.Efimov, T.N. Mordvinkina). In all cases cited in the literature, the diagnosis was not established before the operation.

Surgical treatment of severe forms of ulcerative proctitis
Abstract
At the end of the last century, a number of proposals appeared to treat proctitis that did not respond to conservative treatment by surgery - by imposing an intestinal fistula on the S-shaped intestine or on the appendix, followed by washing with solutions of tannin and potassium permanganate. However, this technique did not always give successful results, and it was gradually forgotten. Recently, some domestic surgeons began to use it again, using phytoncides for washing the colon. So, A.I. Tolchenov (Arzamas) reported 6 observations of the application of this method with good results.

To the casuistry of multiple hemangiomas
Abstract
Hemangiomas are congenital tumors. Their most frequent localization is at the sites of embryonic clefts - on the lips, cheeks, walls of the oral cavity. They increase in childhood, then their growth slows down; a feature of growth is an increase in the main tumor due to its vessels, and not the surrounding tissues.

Surgical treatment of anal atresia in adults
Abstract
Congenital malformations of the rectum and anus are relatively rare (1: 5,000-10,000 newborns). Distinguish between complete atresia and atresia with a fistula. The development of a newborn in such cases is possible if surgery is performed on the first day or if atresia is combined with an abnormality of the intestinal orifice, which ensures sufficient bowel emptying. Only isolated cases of description of such anomalies in adults are known (N. Ts. Tikhov, A. G. Brzhozovsky). In this regard, we present our observation.

Endemic goiter in the western part of the Shugurovsky district of the TASSR
Abstract
The first observations of endemic goiter in the Shugurovsky district date back to 1935. Polyantsev and Polyantseva conducted a survey of the population of the villages of the Shugurovsky district located along the Sheshma River (Sugushly, Karkali, Shugur, Skhodnevo, 68 Urdala, Spiridonovka, N. Ishtiryak, St. Ishtiryak and Bakirovo) and established a focus of endemic goiter. The incidence of the inhabitants was on average 29.9%. Later, G.M. Usmanova examined the population of several villages in the Shugurovsky district, mainly those that were examined in 1935, and found an enlargement of the thyroid gland in 87.2%, and goiter 3-4-5 degrees in 14.8 %.

Endemic goiter in the Volzhsk region
Abstract
The Mari ASSR has long been considered the focus of endemic goiter. The first information about goiter on the territory of the Mari Territory dates back to 1870 and 1886. (N.A. Tolmachev and M.F.Kandaratsky). In the Soviet period, for the first time in 1929, a scientific expedition was organized by the People's Commissariat for Health of the RSFSR to identify the causes, nature and size of goiter endemic. The survey results confirmed the available data. The Mari Scientific Research Goiter Station was created, which united all the work to combat goiter in the republic. In the future, iodine prophylaxis began to be carried out by supplying the population with table salt and at the same time "school" iodine prophylaxis, which affected the health of the population. New materials on thymus endemic in the MASSR, presented by prof. FG Mukha-Medyarov ten years after the 1929 expedition showed a significant decrease in the incidence rate (up to 10.6%, instead of 21.2% in 1929). During the Patriotic War and post-war years, mass surveys of the population were not carried out. For the Volzhsky District, during this time, there were only data from a sample survey of the population, carried out at the initiative of local medical workers. According to these data, an increase in the incidence rate (up to 45% of those examined) was again observed in the Volzhsky region. In 1956, the population of the Zvenigovsky region was examined by doctors D.V. Shvets and S.P. 1% (materials of the republican SES).

Abstract
We used materials obtained during preventive examinations of the workers of the rubber-technical products plant by therapists, ophthalmologists and laryngologists-employees of the clinics of the Kursk Medical Institute, as well as the city and regional anti-tuberculosis dispensaries, who conduct a fluorographic examination of workers every one and a half years.

From the experience of the Yutazin regional hospital of the TASSR
Abstract
The party and the government show daily concern for improving the material well-being of the Soviet people. The allocations allocated by the state for medical care are increasing every year, the network of hospitals, clinics, nurseries, kindergartens, sanatoriums, and rest homes is growing.

Characteristics of the sources of infection with syphilis in the TASSR in 1944-1958.
Abstract
One of the elements of the dispensary methodology in the fight against sexually transmitted diseases, and, in particular, with syphilis, is the identification and involvement of persons who have served as a source of infection in compulsory treatment. As you know, contingents of sources of infection cannot be regarded as something constant, unchanged in their composition at different periods of time. Depending on changes in socio-economic conditions, the composition of sources of infection inevitably changes to some extent. Knowledge of these changes is of great epidemiological importance, since they determine the direction and nature of organizational and preventive measures.

Atherosclerosis
Abstract
The problem of atherosclerosis has taken one of the central places in the struggle to increase human life expectancy and health. Numerous literature, often with highly conflicting data; numerous conferences, symposiums devoted to the nature of atherosclerosis in various aspects; finally, the keen interest of a broad mass of doctors dictates the need to summarize well-known results, to compare materials and conclusions. This task was set in his monograph by B.V. Ilyinsky, well known for his work on atherosclerosis.

The second all-Russian conference of balneologists and physiotherapists
Abstract
The report by A.A. Tamazov (Moscow) covered the issues of ensuring the further development of physiotherapeutic assistance to the population of the RSFSR in the light of the implementation of the January decree of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR. The main ones are: creating comfortable conditions for patients being treated by physical methods; measures promoting the wider use of all modern physical factors in complex treatment; creation of a network of independent physiotherapy clinics.

Conference on non-specific prevention and therapy of infectious diseases
Abstract
Opening the conference, prof. NV Lazarev (Leningrad) noted the relevance of the search for drugs that can increase the body's immunity to infection and enhance the body's resistance during treatment. He dwelt in detail on those changes in the body, which are united by him in the general concept of "a state of increased non-specific resistance." This condition is caused by drugs such as dibazol, vitamin B12, ginseng root, eleutherococcus. They were named by him as adaptogens. He characterized the differences between the state of increased body resistance and the state of "stress" according to Selye.
