Cytochemical study of immune processes in newborns with acute respiratory infections

Gurevich E.P.

Abstract

At various stages of the immune process in 101 newborns with acute respiratory infections, the glycogen content in lymphocytes and neutrophils, neutrophil phospholipids and the activity of acid and alkaline phosphatases in them, the activity of succinate dehydrogenase of lymphocytes and the average content of lysosomes in them, as well as the activity index of monocytes were studied. The peculiarities of the dynamics of cytochemical parameters were revealed depending on the premorbid background, the phase of the disease, the presence of bacterial concomitant diseases and superinfection with acute respiratory infections. The calculation of the average content of lysosomes in lymphocytes and the activity index of monocytes can be recommended for use in clinical laboratories of the departments of neonatal pathology.

Diagnostic doubts in clinical hematology

Shustov V.Y., Ivanov A.P.

Abstract

Difficulties and errors in modern diagnostics of diseases of the blood system are often caused by polymorphism of the clinical and hematological picture, which does not correspond to the previous descriptions of the classical forms of the most important blood diseases, sometimes an incorrect interpretation of blood changes, as well as a passion for the purely cytomorphological aspect of diagnosis without a broad assessment of the clinical and hematological picture as a whole.

Diagnostic criteria for glanzmann thrombasthenia

Odesskaya T.A., Fedorova Z.D., Senchilo E.A., Belyaeva Z.N.

Abstract

Based on long-term observations and study of the state of hemostasis in 17 patients with Glanzmann's thrombasthenia, the diagnostic criteria of this disease during periods of exacerbation and clinical remission were determined. During the period of exacerbation, such signs are violations of platelet adhesion to glass fiber, their aggregation under the influence of ADP, adrenaline and collagen, changes in the excretory reactions of the patient's platelets under the action of ADP on them, as well as a sharp violation of the process of retraction of a blood clot. In the absence of clinical manifestations of the disease, impaired adhesion of platelets to fiberglass, aggregation of platelets under the influence of ADP and adrenaline, as well as a significant decrease in values in retraction of a blood clot retain their diagnostic value.

The importance of tissue and vascular factors in the mechanism of hemostasis in childbirth

Susloparov L.A.

Abstract

The role of tissue and vascular factors in the mechanism of hemostasis during labor was studied in 68 women with various types of obstetric pathology. A significant decrease in the coagulation activity of tissue and vascular factors was found in women in labor before the onset of subsequent and early postpartum hemorrhages and in women in labor with antenatal fetal death compared with healthy women. The processes of thrombus formation in the uterus during labor are activated by tissue and vascular factors of hemostasis to such an extent that they proceed extremely quickly and during the subsequent period provide a final, reliable hemostasis.

The content of estrogenic hormones in tissues and urine with uterine fibroids

Mazitov I.M.

Abstract

The amount of estrogenic hormones in the urine and tissues of the endometrium, myometrium and myomatous nodes in 10 patients with uterine myoma before surgery during the menstrual cycle, as well as in urine and in the tissues of the uterus after its surgical removal was investigated. It was found that there is no difference in the content of estrogens in the myometrium and myomatous nodes. This means that myomatous nodes do not show an increased ability to accumulate hormones in comparison with neighboring unchanged muscle tissue. The obtained weak correlation dependence of estrogen hormones excreted in the urine and contained in the tissues of the uterus does not give the right to draw conclusions about changes in the hormonal balance in the tissues of the uterus only by determining the amount of estrogen in the urine. All the more difficult it is only on the basis of studying the excretion of estrogenic hormones in the urine to judge their significance in the occurrence of uterine fibroids.

Therapeutic Uses of Normal Immunoglobulin for Pulmonary Diseases

Korolev A.M., Voronchikhina L.D., Vakhrusheva A.S., Meteleva L.V., Malakhova I.A., Dumkin I.M.

Abstract

In the complex treatment of 30 patients with severe pulmonary diseases (males — 14, females — 16; age — from 15 to 70 years), we used normal immunoglobulin for intravenous administration, developed at the Kirov Research Institute of Blood Transfusion. In 20 patients the process was bilateral, in 10 it was unilateral. The sclerotic form of chronic pneumonia according to the classification of KG Nikulin (stage I) was established in 7 patients, bronchiectasis (stage II) in 11 and abscessing (stage III) in 12. The patients stayed in the hospital from 21 to 89 days. Immunoglobulin was injected intravenously (the rate of administration was no more than 20 drops per minute), 50–75 ml 2 times a week in a total dose of 100–150 ml. The drug was prescribed only for extensive lung lesions, bronchiectasis, abscess formation; in 2 patients it was used in preparing them for lung operations during critical periods of the course of the disease. Under the influence of complex treatment with the use of immunoglobulin for intravenous administration, patients showed positive shifts in the indicators of total protein, protein fractions and albumin-globulin index (see table).

"Rural doctor" V. A. Alekseev, A. M. Aminev. Chuvash book publishing house. Cheboksary, 1977, circulation 8000 copies

Bregadze I.L.

Abstract

The book is dedicated to the rural surgeon Konstantin Vasilyevich Volkov (1871-1938). In the twenties and thirties, the name of K.V. Volkov was extremely popular among surgeons. His speeches in the press and at congresses were always sharp and polemical. He spoke all European languages, subscribed to many magazines and, although he lived and worked not in the capital or in the university center, but in one of the villages of Chuvashia, he responded vividly to all more or less significant events in the surgical world. Among his many publications, the article "Surgery without danger" (Nov. hir. Architect, 1931, vol. 24, p. 390) deserves special attention, in which he sharply criticized the well-known work of SP Fedorov "Surgery at the Crossroads" , condemned the author's decadent mood.

Letter to the editor. Regarding the article by L. I. Moskvicheva "experience in the prevention of pneumonia"

Smirnov G.A.

Abstract

The question of the advisability of using antibacterial agents for respiratory viral diseases remains controversial. Most researchers consider it useless and even harmful (E. M. Tareev, K. V. Bunin, E. Katiladze and many others). D. Debsai et al. write that with prophylactic antibiotics, the number of bacterial complications does not decrease. According to AF Bilibin, antibiotics, suppressing the normal microflora of the body, promote the activation of viruses. Only a few authors (L.S. Schwartz et al.) Believe that for the prevention of pneumonia it is necessary to treat patients with acute respiratory diseases from the first days as patients with pneumonia.
