On the issue of free fibrinous bodies in the pleural cavity

Golyaev A.V.

Abstract

Since the introduction of artificial pneumothorax as a therapeutic method for pulmonary tuberculosis in recent years, a number of phthisiologists and radiologists have described peculiar fibrinous bodies in the pleural cavity, the mechanism of which remains unclear. It is only known that they are formed as a result of exudative pleurisy, which often develops after the imposition of a repeated pneumothorax.

Complement rejection reaction in malaria quartana

Savchenko I.G., Baranov I.M.

Abstract

In 1925, we published a paper in Kazanok, a medical journal: "A specific reaction of complement rejection in malaria". This reaction, as is known, is based on the fact that the alcoholic extract from the liver of malarial patients contains an antigen that, with the sera of patients with the corresponding form of malaria, gives a complement deviation.

To the clinic of hepatolienal diseases

Romm S.O.

Abstract

Recently, from a large group of liver diseases, we have learned to distinguish such forms in which, by splenectomy, jaundice was not only eliminated as the main symptom of the disease, but it was often possible to suspend the further development of cirrhotic liver changes that had already occurred. Gradually, we became convinced that in certain diseases that were associated only with a disorder of liver function, the spleen also plays an outstanding role as the most important factor of the disease. This led to the assumption of the existence of a close relationship between the spleen and the liver, so that it was possible to talk about diseases of the hepatoleinal system, which means a large biologically combined system in which the spleen, liver and bone marrow (their reticuloendothelial elements) play an outstanding role. All these three organs work in concert under normal conditions, but under pathological conditions there is a disorder of the functions of the hepatoliinal, resp. endothelial reticulum. the system as a whole, and its individual ingredients in particular.

Priselkov P.V.

Abstract

Although the Russian surgical press has been enriched in recent years with works devoted to the surgical treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis by artificial paralysis of the diaphragm, although this issue has been discussed at many congresses (1,2 and 3 All-Ukrainian and 16 Russian surgeons), we still cannot consider it finally resolved.

On the issue of biological effects on pregnancy. The first message. The effect on pregnancy in rabbits of serum from non-castrated males.

Butovo V.

Abstract

Research on the issue of artificial effects on pregnancy is conducted mainly in the direction of termination or prevention of pregnancy. With practical application in humans, these two issues are currently strictly separated. If, with regard to termination of pregnancy, it has been universally recognized as the only expedient method of surgical removal of the egg, then with regard to preventive measures against conception, it must be said that all the proposed methods do not give a permanent effect.

Treatment of scarlet fever with antitoxic serum

Belyaev A.A.

Abstract

More than 30 years have passed since Magmogek first used a polyvalent serum for the treatment of scarlet fever, obtained by immunizing horses with streptococci found in this disease. During this time, the medical world has witnessed various methods of preparing serums for the treatment of scarlet fever (Aronson, Palmirski, Vlasyevsky, Moser, Savchenko, Dick and Dick, Docliez). The bactericidal serum Moser'a was, however, the object of the greatest observation and left a significant mark in the literature on the issue of scarlet fever serotherapy. We can name the works of Moser himself, Rosrischill, Eschegish, Vokau, Heubnera, Egiz and Lantov, Speransky, Menshikov, Klyucharev, Fedynsky, etc. authors who have observed the effect of this serum on patients. The different results of its use, which, in all probability, depended on the different, unaccounted for and unknown at that time "toxigenicity" of streptococci used in the immunization of horses, significantly weakened interest in this method of treatment. Since 1910 literary indications regarding the Mo sera serum are interrupted (Vilenkina), occurring later only in the form of isolated reports (Vilenkina, Edelman, Zikowsky, Kraus).

On the issue of primary melanomas of the skin

Imshenetsky A.K.

Abstract

(From 3 fig.).
The data established by Bloch concerning the normal pigmentation formation in the skin naturally affected the classification of pigmented tumors. There are, in his opinion, two systems of melanoblasts: banal skin epithelial cells that arose from the ectoderm, and cells of mesodermal origin that lie in the lower 2 / z of the skin itself and are found in Mongolian and blue birthmarks. Assuming the possibility of the occurrence of melanomas only from these cells, which are different in their origin, Bloch, based on their localization, distinguishes: 1) melanocarcinomas-epidermis, hair follicle, ordinary birthmarks, 2) melanosarcomas—Mongolian and blue birthmarks.

Materials for the study of blood groups in the Tatar population

Gerasimov I.F.

Abstract

A case of laboratory infection of recurrent typhus through the conjunctiva of the eye

Ivanova D.

Abstract

Cases of infection with recurrent typhus of laboratory workers dealing with infectious material containing spirochetes, as well as pathologists and anatomists, are not entirely rare. In the old literature, there are cases of infection of Dr. Mink ) and Perls ) (the first was infected with the blood of a recurrent, the second during the autopsy of a corpse),. Mantenfel ) (infection during laboratory work), Grushinsky ) (5 cases of infection of surgeons during the operation of patients with recurrent typhus). Recently, Dr. Alexandrov) described the infection of a laboratory attendant when cleaning test tubes from under the cultures of Obermeyer's spirochetes grown according to the method of Prof.Aristovsky.

On the effect of anti-syphilitic treatment on the course of menstruation in syphilitic women

Batunin M.P.

Abstract

It is considered established that monthly periods that come on time regularly serve as an indicator of the normal state of the female genital sphere and, conversely, a violation of the correctness of menstruation indicates a functional disorder of the sexual apparatus. The physiology and pathology of the menstrual type are so well studied that by certain changes we can judge the state of the organs involved in the menstrual cycle—namely, the ovary and uterus. The latest studies on the effect of various protein substances, as well as some drugs (for example, iodine) have shown that the organ regulating menstruation - the ovary-is quite sensitive to the introduction of these substances. From this point of view, it would not be necessary to ignore the possible influence of platypus from such strongly acting, partly toxic drugs, which are used in the treatment of syphilis. The observation of the correctness of the patient's menstrual function could serve as a clinical criterion for the state of the ovary in the treatment of syphilis. The question of the effect of specific treatment on the course of menstruation in a woman in the medical literature is still extremely little developed. So Lecaperé (in" Traitation de la syphilis") indicates that the regula in some patients during the treatment of Vi became more frequent and more abundant. Levaditi writes that metrorrhagia and erosive balanitis, accompanied by prepuce pigmentation, are cited among the most rare side effects of bismuth therapy. The same instructions are available from N. Förtig, Rudolfloffe (Handbuch der Salvarsantherapie-Kolle and Zieler). According to Mulzer, the started regula do not constitute a contraindication for continuing treatment. The most detailed question is covered and tested clinically by Kana P. Smelov, who indicate that practically a doctor with specific treatment in women has to solve such questions: 1) whether it is necessary to stop treatment during regula, 2) how specific therapeutic measures (rubbing mercury, injections, infusions) affect the type of menstruation in syphilitic women whose genitals are normal, and 3) how does treatment affect syphilitic women who already had a menstrual disorder before the start of specific treatment. With regard to the first question—therapy during menstruation, Kan and Smelov believe that in people who are sexually healthy and suffer from infectious and non-infectious diseases of a non-gynecological nature, treatment in most cases does not change the menstrual type and can continue during the regula without a break. On the second question about the effect of treatment on the type of menstruation, the following is stated: "Rational therapy (medication, physiotherapy, climatic, balneological) has a positive effect in the sense of improving the menstrual type in constitutionally low-value subjects.

Pupil reflexes

Galant I.B.

Abstract

Pupillary reflexes are best studied in psychiatry, where they play an important role in diagnosis. The Munich psychiatrist Bumke (Witke) published a rather voluminous monograph: ..Disorders of the pupils in the mentally and mentally ill“), published in 1911 in the second edition. Thanks to the Boom, the attention of psychiatrists and neuropathologists was even more focused on the reflex phenomena of the pupils, and in recent years, the reflexology of the pupils has been supplemented with many subtleties that any other field of reflexology could envy.

On the issue of the crisis of the sanitary organization

Pleshchitzer A.Y.

Abstract

Articles covering the issue of the state of the sanitary organization in the country, the difficulties in this work, and measures to overcome this crisis are increasingly appearing in the medical press. So far, sanitary doctors are mainly talking. Doctors of other specialties do not seem to hear this discussion. At the same time, this issue is so relevant that it deserves the attention of wide medical circles. After all, if sanitary doctors and sanitary organizations on the ground talk about the crisis and the shortcomings of their work, then the question involuntarily arises whether this does not threaten the sanitary state of the country and whether we will be ready and fully armed when epidemics appear.

On the issue of paranoia

Abstract

In two works by Otto Kant (Zeitschr. f. d. ges. Neurol u Ps.Bd 108 and 110) presents his views on the origin of paranoia. First, Kant gives a comparative analysis of two cases of delirium of jealousy. In one of them, the author sees in the patient's delirium the desire to humiliate the wife, in whose subordination the patient was. Another alcoholic patient, with a fallen sexual potency, lives with a woman whose loyalty is questionable.

Zhilin I.

Abstract

About the delirium of jealousy. N. Gausebeck'a ("Über Eiferuchtswahn" Arch, f. Ps.. Band. 84, 1928) in his work seeks to clarify the question of the relationship of the delirium of jealousy to the circle of paranoid diseases. The author analyzes a number of specific cases from this side. In the first case, analyzed by the author, the delirium of jealousy is a reaction on the part of a moronic subject to a difficult situation for him: this is a paranoid situational psychosis. In the second case, the delirium of jealousy developed on the basis of a paranoid disposition in the subject, who produced both ideas of persecution and damage in his professional career at the same time. The ideas of jealousy in this case are only part of the all-encompassing delirium of persecution.
