Treatment of lung and pleural gunshot wounds in an evacuation hospital

Polyantsev A.A.

Abstract

Thoracic wounds have a high mortality rate. Out of 8373 cases of thoracic wounds, 52% were fatal, according to Levitsky at the 14th Surgeons' Congress. French surgeons (Clavelin, Duval) quote as high lethality rate (45-60%), according to English authors (Gray) it is a little bit lower, but still over 30%. The experience of Soviet surgeons who worked during the last military confrontations (Lake Khasan, Khalkhin-Gol) is still little known, but the available information suggests good results.

Treatment of gunshot injuries of the hand

Shalagin M.M., Persiyaninov L.S.

Abstract

Traumatic soft tissue injuries and hand bone fractures are common in peacetime and account for 29% (Ziegler) to 33.11% (Kaufman) and even up to 44.8% (Usoltseva, Gusinin) of all other traumatic injuries to the body. Hand bone injuries and fractures are no less frequent according to military trauma statistics.

On the treatment of gunshot wounds to the hands and feet

Shalunov G.M.

Abstract

Hand and foot injuries account for a significant percentage of all gunshot wounds in modern combat, which is full of bullets and fragments from exploding shells, aerial bombs, mines, grenades and fragmentation bullets. When these injuries are not treated appropriately they will permanently incapacitate the wounded person. Incorrect treatment may result in large calluses due to large separation of bone fragments, ankylosis of joints, immobility and curvature of fingers due to nerve and tendon damage, etc.

Local treatment of burns with plaster

Mitrofanov P.P.

Abstract

From 1934 through 1940 we used different methods of burn treatment: 1) oil dressings, 2) potassium permanganate (5% solution), 3) rivanol 1:1000, 4) open heat and light therapy (II stage burns) and 5) plaster bandages and powder with burnt plaster (since 1937). We have recently completely abandoned ointment dressings for burns because of the main drawbacks of this method: secondary infection, painful dressings, frequent contractures, extensive skin defects and lengthy treatment.

Treatment of burns in an outpatient setting

Palmov V.A.

Abstract

Despite the large number of works devoted to the treatment of burns, there is still a lack of clarity on the subject. Among the many ways to treat burns, the most popular is open treatment with potassium permanganate or tannin (Batman, Davidson). In the outpatient setting the open method is of little use (danger of infection!) and bandage treatment has to be applied.

Serving the sick and wounded during transportation by air

Yaroslavtsev B.M.

Abstract

A new form of transport has firmly entered our life - air transport, with which no type of ground transport can compete, both in terms of convenience and speed. Air transport plays and will play a significant role during the war. Burdenko notes that the issue of evacuating the sick and wounded on airplanes, both in terms of the position of the patient, the influence on him of various flight speeds and altitudes, as well as the specific method of individual care, is almost resolved. The specificity of work in air transport requires special training of the so-called flight attendants and flight attendants.

Treatment of pneumonia in children with white streptocide

Krever E.P.

Abstract

As a chemotherapeutic agent, streptocide acts on microorganisms only in vivo; in vitro, even in more concentrated solutions, it has no effect. Such an indirect effect may depend on: 1) the splitting of this drug into active substances; 2) from stimulating cells of a living organism to form antibodies.

About the treatment of cerebrospinal meningitis with white streptocide

Sheveleva R.Y.

Abstract

The question of the treatment of meningitis has attracted particular attention, as the existing methods of treatment by the administration of serum and urotropine do not give satisfactory results, the rate of mortality and severe complications is still too high. With the discovery of streptocide we have an entirely new drug with results that leave all the old treatments for meningococcal disease far behind.

Streptocide in the treatment of otogenic septicopyemia

Sokolov B.N.

Abstract

Preparations of streptocide are widely used in various departments of medical practice, particularly in otorhinolaryngology. The healing properties of red streptocide in various forms of inflammatory condition of the tonsillar apparatus are well known. Successful application of streptocide preparations at various manifestations of streptococcal infection unwittingly directed the attending physician's thought on application of this type of therapy also in a clinic of otogenic sinustrombosis, complicated with septicopyemic syndrome.

Treatment of retinitis pigmentosa according to the Lauber method in combination with retinol and cerebrin

Verbitskaya E.A., Kashuk M.E., Wasserman I.A.

Abstract

In 1935 and 1936, Lauber published works in which he expressed his views on the essence of tabetic atrophy of the optic nerves and retinitis pigmentosa. He believes that this suffering is based on arterial hypotension, which leads to a disruption of the normal relationship between diastolic pressure in the central retinal artery and ophthalmotonus.

On the establishment of an operational and financial plan for health facilities

Mukhamedyarov F.G.

Abstract

One of the most important conditions for the correct health care of the population is the planning of the activities of each institution and the operational management of its work, according to the approved plan. However, the correct construction of an institution's work plan is a rather complex task that requires coordination and consideration of a number of points.

On the surgeon's tactics during surgery for appendicitis

Semenov V.S.

Abstract

The issue of appendicitis is not off the pages of the medical press. This is justified, firstly, by the significant proportion of appendectomies in relation to all operations performed in surgical departments, and, secondly, if I may say so, by the "popularity" of this operation among the population, who, incidentally, consider it "easy", not life-threatening.

Small intestinal mesenteric cyst

Smetanin B.F.

Abstract

One of the interesting issues in abdominal pathology is that of mesenteric cysts. Interest in this branch of abdominal pathology is determined by the rarity of this pathology, the difficulty of diagnosing mesenteric cysts, the obscurity of their pathogenesis in some cases and the considerable complexity of operative measures in their treatment.
