On monocytes. Silberberg (Deut. med. Woch., 1928, No. 11)

Abstract

According to Silberberg, the macrophage histiocytic system is completely independent of the myeloid and lymphatic systems. Monocytes, which are direct descendants of histiocytes or represent free histiocytes themselves that have entered the blood, form a third, completely independent form of wandering cells of blood and tissues. They never replace leukocytes or lymphocytes, are much less mobile than the latter, and do not constitute blood cells in the proper sense.

По Silberberg’y макрофагная гистиоцитарная система совершенно независима от миэлоишнои и лимфатической. Моноциты, являющиеся прямыми потомками гистиоцитов, или представляющие собою самих свободных гистиоцитов, попавших в кровь, образуют третью, совершенно самостоятельную форму блуждающих клеток крови и тканей. Они никогда не заменяют собою лейкоцитов или лимфоцитов, гораздо менее подвижны, чем эти последние, и не представляют собою кровяных клеток в собственном смысле.
