About biological reaction to arsenic

Ignatovich D.V.

Abstract

In the past, arsenic was often used for the preparation of paints. So, realgar (two-part arsenic) gave red paint, orpigment (three-part arsenic) yellow; Sheelevskaya green (alkaline arsenic salt of honey oxide) and Schweinfurt green (arsenic-acetic-acid honey) were used as green paints. Schweinfurt green was especially often used, due to its beautiful green color and insolubility in water. Lightweight materials for ball dresses, various silk materials, veils, artificial flowers and leaves, children's toys, paper covers for confectionery and food supplies — all this, if it was green, was painted with Schweinfurt greenery.

Although there is already a small literature regarding this method, namely: the report of I.I. Grekov at the end of the Russian Surgery. The Pirogov Society on January 7 of this year and in the most recent time Walter together with Turache comprehensive research on the practical, bacteriological and histological side fully confirmed the feasibility of this new method of treating the skin with a single tincture, it was still interesting to be convinced of the most brilliant results.
