Fight against old age

Abstract

P. V. Bochkarev (Vest. Endocr., 1925. No. 3), examining this issue, finds that therapeutic measures based on intervention in the endocrine system of an aging organism can acquire in the near future a tremendous practical value in the fight against decrepitude; however, there is no reason to think that in this way it will be possible to influence those deep structural changes in tissues, which, in the author's opinion, constitute the essence of the aging process.

П. В. Бочкарев (Вест. Эндокр., 1925. № 3), разбирая этот вопрос, находит, что лечебные мероприятия, основанные на вмешательстве в эндокринную систему стареющего организма, могут приобрести в ближайшем будущем громадное практическое значение в борьбе с дряхлостью; однако нет никаких оснований думать, что этим путем удастся повлиять и на те глубокие структурные изменения в тканях, которые, по мнению автора, составляют сущность процесса старения.
