Abstract
The author suggests the following method of treatment: after a vertical incision running from the cranial process to the lower edge of the m. The author suggests the following method of treatment: after a vertical incision going to the pectoralis majoris (in subjects with a strongly developed musculature this muscle is cut across, in women it is usually enough to move it downwards) the neurovascular bundle is reached and it is carefully taken away to the side. Then the anterior edge of the joint socket is found and an opening is made in its lower part, into which a bone pin taken from the tibia is inserted; if it seems necessary, the joint capsule is sutured with several stitches; then catgut stitches are placed on the muscle and aponeurosis and silk stitches on the skin, and a small swab is placed in the lower edge of the wound. The arm is bandaged to the torso.

Kellogg-Speed предлагает следующий способ этого лечения: после вертикального разреза, идущего от клювовидного отростка до нижнего края m. pectoralis majoris,—причем у субъектов с сильно развитой мускулатурой эта мышца перерезывается поперек, у женщин же, обычно, достаточно бывает отодвинуть ее вниз,—доходят до нервно-сосудистого пучка и осторожно отводят его в сторону; затем отыскивают передний край суставной впадины и в нижнем ее отделе проделывают отверстие, в которое вставляют костный штифт, взятый из tibia; если представляется необходимым, то ушивают несколькими швами суставную капсулу; затем накладываются кетгутовые швы на мышцу и апоневроз и шелковые на кожу, а в нижний край раны вводится маленький тампон. Рука прибинтовывается к туловищу. Через неделю разрешают движения предплечья, еще через неделю начинают движения и абдукцию плеча, вся повязка снимается через 3 недели после операции; движения абдукции постепенно увеличиваются до нормы. Преимущества данного способа: суставная капсула обычно но вскрывается, операция очень непродолжительна, функциональные результаты ее прекрасные вследствие ранней мобилизации сустава.
