Intravenous infusion of calcium chloride for osteoarticular tuberculosis

Abstract
Clavelin et André Sicard (Presse Médicale 22 fevrier, 1928), based on the works of Weill, Guillaumin and others regarding metabolism, calcium chloride and fixation with ultraviolet rays, subjected 28 patients with severe lesions to combined treatment. The injection technique was as follows: 1-1.5% solution of crystalline, chemically pure calcium chloride, prepared ex tempore in distilled water, was injected intravenously at a solution temperature of 40 °. The first 5 injections in the amount of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 k. See 1% solution were injected every two days: then 1.25% solution in the same doses, and at the same intervals. After 10 injections, a break for 20 days; then again 5 injections of 1.25% solution and the last 5 injections — 1.5% solution. After each injection, the patients were exposed to the illumination of the Vash's lamp, starting from 1 minute and gradually increasing the dose. Complications included hot flushes to the head, the taste of lime in the mouth, nausea, and sometimes vomiting; in this latter case, it is necessary to stop treatment. Of the 28 patients, 17 received a noticeable improvement, significantly increased in weight, 6 remained unchanged, 4 lost a little weight and 1 gave a deterioration.

Clavelin et André Sicard (Presse Médicale 22 fevrier, 1928), основываясь на работах Weillʹя, Guillaumin’a и др. относительно метаболизма, хлористого кальция и фиксации его ультра-фиолетовыми лучами, подвергли комбинированному лечению 28 больных с тяжелыми поражениями. Техника инъекций была следующая: 1—1,5% раствор кристаллического, химически чистого хлористого кальция, приготовляемого ex tempore на дестиллированной воде, вводился внутривенно при t° раствора в 40°. Первые 5 инъекций в количестве 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 к. см. 1%-ного раствора вводились каждые два дня: затем 1,25% раствор в тех же дозах, и через те же промежутки времени. После 10 инъекций перерыв на 20 дней; затем опять 5 инъекций 1,25% раствора и последние 5 инъекций—1,5% раствора. После каждой инъекции больные подвергались освещению Васh’овской лампой, начиная с 1 минуты и постепенно увеличивая дозы. Из осложнений отмечались приливы к голове, вкус извести во рту, тошнота, иногда рвота; в этом последнем случае необходимо прекращать лечение. Из 28 больных, 17 получили заметное улучшение, значительно прибавились в весе, 6 остались без перемен, 4—слегка похудели и 1 дал ухудшение.
