Characterizing anthroponymy from account books (evidence from XVIII—XIX centuries account books)
Abstract
The article considers semantics of family names which were common in Tobolsk province in XVIII and XIX centuries. The analysis of the surnames involved vast lexicographic material. The conducted analysis shows that a considerable amount of family names originated from calendar names. The same applies to family names which reflected the occupation, physical appearance and personality features.

The article presents the review of theonymic vocabulary units taken from the Russian and Polish religious texts. The author considers theonyms’ etymology, context of their usage. The usage frequency of these units is also analyzed.

Portrayal of russian national character in terms of christian worldview (as exemplified by V.G.Rasputin’s short novels “The last term” and “Farewell to Matyora”)
Abstract
The article explores the eschatological tradition used in portrayal of the Russian national character in V.Rasputin’s short novels “ The Last Term ” and “ Farewell to Matyora”. This tradition is inherited in the way the characters see the purpose of human life and immortality which they believe is confined in the generational continuity. The writer cogitates on important metaphysical questions — life after death, meaning of human existence — using fundamental Christian definitions.

Image of “russian Faust” in M.Y.Lermontov’s novel “A hero of our time”
Abstract
The article analyses the image of “Russian Faust” in M.Y. Lermontov’s “A Hero of Our Time”. The portrayal of the main character Pechorin is compared to one of the most prominent characters in German Literature — doctor Faust. The common features that link both of the characters are outlined in the conclusion.
