The article contains strong evidence-based data which corroborates the author's conclusion that town chronicle-writing in Siberia dates back to the early 1630s whereas until recently it was widely held to appear in the second half of the 17th century. The aforementioned evidence is grounded on the list of the first Tobolsk rulers which historians have never resorted before.
