On the one hand, chronic tonsillitis in a large percentage of cases precedes rheumatism (V.E. Nezlin, E.I. Volkova, F.A. D. Lebedev, A. V. Dolgopolova, B. S. Preobrazhensky, O.D.Sokolova-Ponomareva).
