These drugs were developed mainly in the second half of the nineteenth century and have become very popular for pain relief both as monotherapy and as part of combination medications. This group includes salicylates (aspirin - ASA), pyrazolones (antipyrine), and anilides (phenacetin and acetaminophen - AAP).
