If with a timely operation this figure decreases to 0.04%, then with a belated operation it rises to 0.5% (A.I. Mironov, G. Ya. Iosset). Some authors cite even higher mortality rates. According to Ross, Zarem and Morgan, mortality in acute appendicitis is 0.89%, and among people over 50 years old - 5.6%. Similar data are cited by Gabel, Barton, Solomon and others.
