Study type is cross-sectional epidemiological study. A cohort was formed randomly, consisting of 1672 people, representative of sex and age structure of the population. In addition to completing the questionnaire, we performed the following examinations: estimation of height, body weight and waist size, measurement of blood pressure and heart rate, electrocardiogram, as well as the determination of a number of biochemical parameters: sugar and creatinine levels in blood and lipid profile (low density lipoproteins, high density lipoproteins and triglycerides levels).</p><p><bold>Results.</bold>Among the residents of the Kyrgyz Republic the prevalence of metabolic syndrome was 30.9% with predominance of its occurrence among women (33.3% vs. 27.7% in men, p</p><p><bold>Conclusion.</bold> Among the residents of the Kyrgyz Republic the high prevalence of the metabolic syndrome was registered with certain gender and ethnic features of its components occurrence.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p><bold>Цель.</bold> Изучение распространённости метаболического синдрома и его компонентов среди жителей Кыргызской Республики.</p><p><bold>Методы.</bold> Данное исследование было проведено в рамках международного проекта «ИНТЕРЭПИД», в котором, помимо Кыргызстана, приняли участие Российская Федерация и Казахстан. Тип исследования - одномоментное эпидемиологическое сплошное. Случайным методом была сформирована когорта, состоящая из 1672 человек, репрезентативная по половому и возрастному составу населения. Помимо заполнения анкеты, нами были проведены следующие обследования: определение роста, массы тела и объёма талии, измерение артериального давления и частоты сердечных сокращений, снятие электрокардиограммы, а также определение ряда биохимических показателей: уровня сахара, креатинина в крови и липидного спектра (содержание липопротеинов низкой плотности, липопротеинов высокой плотности и триглицеридов).</p><p><bold>Результаты.</bold>Среди жителей Кыргызской Республики распространённость метаболического синдрома составляет 30,9% с превалированием его частоты у женщин (33,3% против 27,7% у мужчин, p</p><p><bold>Вывод.</bold> Среди жителей Кыргызской Республики отмечена высокая распространённость метаболического синдрома с некоторыми гендерными и этническими особенностями частоты его компонентов.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>metabolic syndrome</kwd><kwd>prevalence</kwd><kwd>hypertension</kwd><kwd>hyperglycemia</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>метаболический синдром</kwd><kwd>распространённость</kwd><kwd>артериальная гипертензия</kwd><kwd>гипергликемия</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Романова Т.А., Полупанов А.Г.
